Feelin a little Red, White and Blue...

Right now everyone is inspired by the Olympics and we all feel very patriotic.
GO USA!!!!
Lately we have tried to implement that into our designs. Here is a pic of a wonderful flag that Dixie created out of an old table top.

Before

Next we used old feed sacks as pillow shams on this bed. Cute huh?

We are always drawn to things with our names on them, like this one. (I am usually luckier than Dixie at finding my name.)

Found this old mirror at a thrift store for $4! It looks great in this red, white and blue room.

Geeez I forgot about the big tin sign that says Albers Feed that FJS #4 made me steal off of an old abandoned feed store while she stood watch!
(I just know she would have deserted me if we would have gotten caught!) Oh, and the Albers Feed wall desk that Todays Country Store found for me a few years back! (Love those gals, they are always takin care of us).
We will put those in the room next week.
Have a great weekend, it's beautiful here in the Pacific Northwest!

So Dix does her magic and it turns out adorable, don't cha think?

Now Mom thinks she wants to keep it....Dixie used her "stern" voice to convince her "no way"!
Glad I wasn't around for that conversation!

Horse Show Ribbons

We have collected horse show ribbons over the years. They have such wonderful, brilliant colors. The pink and turquoise are our favorites. Here are a few ideas on what to do with them....love, love, love this wreath!

Tiffany, from Shabby Scraps (one of our favorite vendors at our shows) uses them as a valance to her curtains.

Bridal Survival used them as place cards for a wedding.

Here is a creative way to use them in a bedroom.

You could also use them to decorate your holiday tree or use them as colorful bows for birthday or holiday presents. What a treat if would be to receive one of these on a gift! You certainly would feel special, don't you agree?

Today....

This picture arrived in my email box this morning with the subject line "Look what I found". The message was from the Junk Queen herself, my mom, Funky Junk Sister #1! It's my pillow!!! Isn't it amazing how mothers always know how to make you feel better? This time she came through with flying colors! My pillow is resurrected, and will never be left alone with Cooder again, I promise!

Mother, Funky Junk Sister #1

Thanks mom, you're the bestest!!!

Yesterday....

I was bragging to Dixie about this fabulous steal of a deal pillow I found on clearance at Ross for less than $6. It was perfect for my great room, a wonderful chocolate brown silk with an elegant letter A (for Albers) embroidered in gold on the front. I sat it proudly on my striped chair for all to see. I even picked out some muted gold drapes to go on the slider next to it. It was the perfect vignette. Well I got home late last night and this is what I found....
can you see it?
The fabulous pillow sitting right there in the middle of all the feathers! Cooder, my son's dog (that we are now caretakers of since he moved to Texas)
killed it!!!!
I cried.

Cooder

So if anyone comes across this pillow at another Ross store, let me know!

Still sobbing...

Linda

We need your HELP

We're workin on a vintage product and we need fabric for it. Here is the deal...it needs to have pink and canary yellow in it. Plus it needs a little color that is somewhat masculine too. We don't want it to look too girly. We want it to have a hip vibe. If we had some vintage atomic barkcloth that would be great, but we don't....so what do you think of these designs?
This fabric will be used for curtains if that helps.
Can't reveal the project yet, but soon!
Anyone out there have a few yards of barkcloth that might be appropriate?
Leave us a comment and tell us what you think.

XOXOXO
Dixie & Linda
