A Day in Austin.
We flew into Austin this afternoon and spent a wonderful evening having dinner at this fabulous place! It's called The Oasis on Lake Travis. It has many levels of balconies that look out over the water. Here is the entrance to the restaurant.Interesting fountain.... this seems pretty appropriate for Texas.
Here is a pic of some of the many levels of seating that rise 450 feet above the water. Fantastic views.
We watched the most beautiful sunset from our perch. All the patrons clapped when the sun went down.
Our dates for the evening... a funky junk son (on the right) and his buddy Jeff. We had such a wonderful time with these two, they were very gracious hosts.

Bargain of a lifetime....
I'm helping my hubby furnish the lobby of his new health club on South Hill in Puyallup. This means I have scoured the Internet and all of the local stores for everything he needs. I've purchased all of the furniture and all that was left to find was an area rug for the main lounge. We have gone with a mod contemporary theme (so unlike me) with earthy colors of rust, cream, green and a bit of purple. I stopped in home depot for some spot lights and I just happened to walk by their rug section. I wasn't seeing too much that would fit my needs, except this one 5x7 rug. Mind you, it's all rolled up so its hard to get much of an idea of what it really looks like. From what I could tell, it was way over my budget so I passed it up the first time around...but I had to walk past it again, and I looked closer. The UPC didn't look like it matched what was on the bin so I asked a friendly floor person for some help.
This is Jeff, he pulled out his handy dandy price checker and scanned it for me. After checking it he had a stunned look on his face. He said he needed to double check on the main computer, which he did like a good employee. To my delight he came back to inform me that the price for this lovely rug was....(drum roll please) one cent!!!!!! I thanked him profusely and high tailed it out of there before anyone could change their mind!!!!!
Yes, this is the lovely rug I paid one cent for, lucky me, bargain/junk queen of all the earth! I shoulda gone straight to the casino from there!!!!!

Vendor Profile~Vintage Trifles
We are so lucky to have such wonderful talented people fill the booth spaces at our Funky Junk Sisters Vintage Flea Market. Our market is not your average flea market it's an experience you'll want to savor and enjoy. You'll need to mosey around it a few times before you'll see everything, and that's not an easy task with nearly 100 fabulous vendors. Well....drum roll please... we have added another terrific vendor to the list. Martha of Vintage Trifles out of Salem, Oregon will be joining us this time around. Her flair for vintage creations is evident in everything she touches.

Texas here we come!
Our tickets are purchased and we both got new cowboy boots, but we are still lookin for the perfect cowboy hats. Maybe we will just have to pick those up in Texas when we get there!
Our recent show just reduced the inventory in our storage spaces so we need more junk! Marburger Farms will be the first stop on our trip to Round Top. At first we thought we'd be limited to just buyin the small stuff....but we now have discovered that we can have someone with a BIG SEMI TRUCK load up the stuff we buy and deliver it right to our doorstep! It's a good thing too, cuz we are gonna be sellin at the Puyallup Spring Fair in April.
We're packin up our cameras and our laptops so ya'll can come right along with us! It will be absolute junk heaven....so stay tuned!

We Love Spokane!
We are thrilled to share our love of vintage with anyone who will listen... so you can imagine how we felt to visit with a reporter from our hometown newspaper, The Spokesman Review! The last time we were in the Spokesman was many years ago when Dix and I were both riding on floats in the lilac parade for our hometown of Deer Park. My time was many moons before Dixie but needless to say it was an awesome experience for both of us.
Cheryl Anne Millsap of The Spokesman Review visited with Dixie at our booth at the Custers Show in Spokane! Here is a link to the article "Funky Junk"!
